Black Hair - Part 2

Your Questions About Home Hair Color Brands

Linda asks…

Best at home hair color brand?

I want to get light brown hair but have black hair. I don’t want some hair coloring brand that only conceals gray hairs but something to completely change the color :) And a good brand that does the least damage to my hair. Anyone got any good experiences with home hair coloring?

Best Hair Color answers:

Oh sweety, this is going to be risky (for the health of the hair), a bit expensive and time consuming.
I recommend going to a Hair Solon and ask them to do this.

If you want to do this, you’ll need.
-A good shampoo
-good conditioner
-hair bleach (doesn’t matter what brand)
-jet black hair dye
-The colour dye of your choice
-Time!

1) First thing to do is treat your grey hairs. (if you have any)
You’ll do this by dyeing it black, yep, black. That does mean that you do need to buy this. IF this is not done and you begin with the bleaching process it’ll bleach your dark hair and keep or maybe even further the whitening whiten of the silver hairs! We don’t want that! :)

2) Once that you dyed it black shampoo and condition that hair. We do not want to kill it off. It must be treated and loved with care. Wait a day to two days for your hair to hydrate itself again. And remember, dehydration isn’t the only thing that can cause damage to hair.

3) It’s bleaching time! It doesn’t matter what shade it gets as long it’s lighter than the hair colour you want to have. :)

4) Let the Hair settle in and wait( recommended for about two days; shampoo and condition! ) . Meanwhile have fun! It’s fun to look like a blonde. Act sexy! :)

5) Finally the part you have been anticipating! Let’s dye it the colour, or what I call it, flavour. As what I read from your question you want caramel. That’s not just a beautiful colour, it’s an expression of attitude: diligence and determination. Oh and it also brings out a nice tan. Haha :)

As you can see I do not go into detail about how to dye hair. The box has all the instructions for dyeing your hair one colour.

I hope your hair turns out the way you want it to. And hey, if it doesn’t, there is a lovely and kind stylist who will help you out. Good luck and practice sexy hair! :) Good luck!

Miscellaneous Info
- Shampooing and conditioning more than twice a day or more will help you out a tremendous amount in the long run.

-Dyeing the hair black at first is NECESSARY to maintain even and natural looking hair. If you skip that step, later on in the dyeing process of the last colour, certain hairs will definitely stand out from the rest of the hairs.

-All consumer branded hair dyes are the same. They all get the job done in the end. They’ll all dehydrate your hair. That’s why stylist moisturize hair vigorously before and after they dye hair.

-Don’t let the amount of steps disinterest you. Changing hair colour takes time.

-In the later months (or weeks; depending on how fast your hair grows) your natural roots will pop out and expose themselves making for having to repeating all steps again (steps 2-5.) But if you’re just experimenting it then, it’s a try worthy of executing.

-All that is done by you, is less expensive. But in return it may come out wrong. That’s why there are hair stylists. Don’t be afraid of asking them of asking them how to safely dye hair, if you haven’t done it before.

-I highly recommend a friend helping you do this. Dyeing hair is hard and tricky. If he or she is specialized in dyeing hairs than you might of just found a new best Friend. :)

-More than one box of dye might be needed depending on the amount of hair. Buying more than one case is good in order to be safe. ( I have heard and seen of cases where one set of dye isn’t enough resulting in them having to buy some later on. And yes the hair wasn’t evenly coloured.)

- Remember, labels can lie. Don’t be so trustful with brands. (some brands exaggerate the colour on the box.)

-Make sure you are not allegoric to hair dye.

-if you do go through with this make sure to share it with me. :) My twitter account is below.

Carol asks…

what is the best at home hair color brand?

I am a medium brown and I want to go blonde. What is the best brand of color and how do I go about lightening my hair without going orange? I am just curious how I’d look as a blonde so I don’t want to invest into it and get it professionally done incase I don’t like it. Waste of money.

Best Hair Color answers:

It’s not a good plan to lighten that much at home….you will NOT be happy with the results. Go to a salon…:)

Helen asks…

what at-home hair color brand should i use?

Currently, my hair is brown, with tons of blonde highlights, and very damaged because of that. I want to go dark brown, or even black. I know I need to go to the salon, but I don’t have $100+ dollars right now. So I need a color that will moisturize and come out a decent color. Suggestions?

Best Hair Color answers:

No, at home hair color is not more damaging. Salon color is because of the higher peroxide strength

No your hair will not turn green if you color your highlights brown.

Your best bet is to use a semi-pernament color such as Clairol Natural Instincts. You can even call them toll free for advice.

Maria asks…

What is your favorite at-home hair color brand?

im wanting to dye my hair, but im not sure which brand yet.
so please tell me your favorite brand and which kind in the brand.
thank you !!
i want something that does not fade easilyy.

Best Hair Color answers:

Natural instincts is really good but it will wash out fast..so if you like it..its going to suck because it will come out quickly. But if want a permanent brand then go with nice and easy. Its works soooo good. Its technically for people who have gray hair though….but thats what makes it better. Im only 19 so i dont have gray hair so its cool because the dye is stronger, which means it stays in your hair A LOT longer. Plus..the conditioner they give you is awesome.

Lizzie asks…

What is the best at home hair color brand?

I’m a dark blonde and I want to go the same color blonde as reese witherspoon in legally blonde. Any help??

Best Hair Color answers:

I tried several before i settle on loreal products, They seem to have most natural colors and do less damage to your hair. I had problems with clairol products making hair have a blueish tint to it. Loreal might cost more but I think the advantages are worth it

How to Remove Black Hair Dye

So you decided you were tired of being a blonde or a redhead and took the drastic step of dying your hair black. Now you realize you don’t like it and want to go back to your original color. What can you do? Black hair dye can be a challenge to remove from your hair. If you used a semi-permanent hair color rather than a permanent one, the black hair dye should gradually wash out of your hair over time with repeated shampooing. If you used a permanent black hair dye, hair coloring removal will be more of a challenge. Here’s how to remove black hair dye from your hair:

Remove black hair dye using special shampoos.

This won’t work in every case but it’s the least damaging approaching to removing black hair dye. Go to your local drugstore or beauty supply shop and purchase the strongest clarifying shampoo available. There are special clarifying shampoos designed to remove chlorine from the hair which also work well for removing hair coloring. Another alternative is to shampoo with Head and Shoulders shampoo which is known to strip the hair of color deposits. You may need to shampoo repeatedly to see results.

Remove black hair dye with Loreal Color Zap.

Loreal makes a kit called Loreal Color Zap Color Remover Kit that’s designed to completely remove permanent hair color. To use this product, carefully follow the directions in the kit and you should be able to remove your black hair color. This product does have some bleaching action so your hair will be a bit lighter than your virgin hair color shade which means you’ll probably want to recolor your hair with a more suitable shade once the black hair color is removed. This product can also cause some mild damage to the hair so be sure to use a high quality conditioner after completing the black hair dye removal process.

Seek professional assistance.

If you’ve tried the above methods to remove black hair dye without success, it may be time to seek professional salon help. Many people will attempt to bleach their colored hair to lift the color out. This can not only cause damage to your hair, your hair may also end up a very unflattering shade of red. You hairdresser has professional hair color stripping products available that should remove the stubborn black hair color. She can then recolor your hair to a more flattering shade.

Changing your hair color can be a lot of fun, but in order to prevent a botched dye job, it’s best to initially experiment with temporary and semi-permanent hair color as opposed to permanent hair coloring which tends to be difficult to remove. It’s also important to know how to remove black hair dye in case your new color isn’t as flattering as you might have hoped. If you’re stuck with a black hair color that’s making you unhappy, give some of these black hair dye removal tips a try.
